Welcome to the Family
To the Greenville Community
From the time I was 7 years old, I was intrigued by the driving range. I remember the sound I would hear when my uncle (Bob Goalby, 1968 Masters Champion) hit the ball pure, and wanting to make that same sound with my own swing. I remember being outside on a beautiful day and just enjoying the practice of trying to make myself better. It's where the seeds of my golf life were sown, and a large reason why I've reaped the success I've had on Tour. My playing career now has less years in front of it than it used to. I've looked into the future and asked myself, what do I want Haas Family Golf to be?
First and foremost, it is a place where you come to learn the game the right way. Whether you are a junior golfer looking to prepare your game for college competition, or a senior picking a club up for the very first time, you can count on Haas Family Golf and our experienced teaching staff to teach you proper techniques.
Second, this is a place where the whole family is welcome. I want you to be comfortable bringing your kids, nieces & nephews. Moms, dads, sons and daughters, having fun hitting a few balls or sinking some putts together. I envision one day seeing my grandkids riding on the driving range picker. Our future, learning golf together, one memory at a time.
Third, we want to be your first stop for any golf equipment needs. We have a very accomplished staff that has spent most of their professional golf years working together here. Our Pro Shop has a wide selection of inventory, including junior clubs, in stock, and can offer Titleist golf balls like no other practice facility due to our exclusive agreement.
Last, but certainly not least, is that I want Haas Family Golf to be ingrained in Greenville as something the community can be proud of. I grew up in St. Louis, but this has been my home for the last 40 years. Greenville has supported me throughout my professional career. It's where Jan and I raised a family, and it's where I'm going to retire. Like the Upstate area, the game of golf is growing, and we want to be a trusted resource to both for many years to come.
When I decided to take on a bigger role in the operation of this facility, I couldn't help but think back to some of my first experiences here. I once again thought of the sound of the range; only this time, the sound was of the ball hitting the roof of the lower hitting bays. You see, this is where I took my young sons to learn this wonderful game, and it was their shots that were clanging off the metal. With time and practice, they eventually hit it past the roof…then past the first pin…then, ultimately, to the end of the range. I've been blessed that all of my children have had successful careers, but there is something special about seeing my sons, Jay, Jr. and Bill, play on the PGA Tour after spending countless hours here. Life has come full circle.
I hope Haas Family Golf can play a part in your golf journey and development as it did theirs. I hope that you will experience the value we can bring and consider becoming a member. Playing this game is a great way to get out and exercise, build relationships, and have fun. But if your swing is causing you to not have as much fun as you'd like, stop by Haas Family Golf and we'll give you a hand.
